UPS to establish 3D printing factory in Singapore – The Manufacturer

United Parcel Service (UPS) announced last month that it plans to expand its recently developed on-demand 3D printing service for its Asian network and customers.

The Singapore site will be the first international on-demand 3D printing factory. UPS plans to open the facility with its partner service bureau, Fast Radius, by the end of the year.

The opening of the groundbreaking facility will expand the UPS on-demand 3D printing network to Asia and enabling customers to increase their supply chain efficiency with additive manufacturing.

UPS To Release 3rd Quarter Results On Thursday, October 27, 2016

UPS (NYSE:UPS) will announce its 2016 third-quarter results on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at approximately 7:45 a.m. Eastern Time.

At 8:30 a.m. ET, UPS Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David Abney and Chief Financial Officer Richard Peretz will lead an investor conference call. This call will be open to reporters and the public via a live Webcast.

Costco, Nordstrom, UPS join researchers to tackle last mile delivery – Retail Dive

Dive Brief:

  • A new University of Washington research center, the UW Urban Freight Lab, is working with shipper United Parcel Service, retailers Costco and Nordstrom, and the Seattle Department of Transportation to study urban product delivery challenges.
  • The lab (part of the University of Washington’s Supply Chain, Transportation and Logistics department) was founded to analyze last-mile delivery in urban areas, including management of streets and parking for delivery trucks, bicycles, pedestrians and cars, according to the school’s news service.

Up To 150 Emergency Medical Drone Flights a Day

Today, Rwandan President Paul Kagame launched the world’s first national drone delivery service during a ceremony in the country’s centrally located Muhanga District. Starting today, the Rwandan government will begin using drones to make up to 150 on-demand, emergency deliveries per day of life-saving blood to 21 transfusing facilities located in the western half of the country.
