Joan Walsh yesterday at Salon wrote a book review of historian David Goldfield's latest book entitled "America Aflame: How the Civil War Created A Nation" and her review was a very good read. Maybe I should say Goldfield's book is because just from the points made in the review, Goldfield seems to break past the "it's their fault" no "it's really their fault" historical circle and looks more critically at both sides. The more amazing part of Walsh's review, as she continued to list many of Goldfield's points, I could easily see how the water was boiling towards our own day and time. This book just went toward the top of my current reading list.
