[QUOTE="scratch, post: 1002271, member: 1674"] This was nothing to do with Chick-fil-A policy, it all started when Truett's oldest son Don made a comment after being asked a question in a interview. Being Southern Baptist, he stated that he believes in traditional marriage. So somehow this got blown out of proportion that Chick-fil-A as a business hates Gay people. They sell chicken sandwiches, thats all. I have been to a couple of meetings where Truett Cathy was the guest speaker. He mainly talks about how he started his business through hard work and trying to give the best customer service possible. He started out as a kid buying a six pack of Cokes for a quarter and selling them for a nickel apiece, so he made a nickel profit. He soon figured out that he could buy a block of ice and sell cold drinks, and his business doubled as a kid. He also delivered newspapers. Instead of just throwing them on the customer's porch, he would lean them carefully next to the front door or on their porch chair, according to the customer preference. He doubled his sales and won a trip to a Florida beach every year from the Atlanta Constitution. One meeting I went to he focused on fathers raising their families. He told us that we are to act as head of the household and set the example for the rest of the family. He doesn't drink, swear, smoke, and is still married to his childhood sweetheart at the age of ninety-one. When his kids and grandkids learned to drive, he made them drive an old beater until they graduated from school, then he would buy them a new car. Truett has personally sponsored over two hundred adopted kids. His restaurants give away college scholarships to employees. He is very generous with his money, donating most of it away. Colleges and hospitals around my area have buildings with his name on them, through his WinShape Foundation. I am very familiar with Chick-fil-A. I deliver to his younger son Dan's home and I have a lot of Chick-fil-A Corporate people living on my delivery area. My Center also handles the Corporate account, they are good customers of us.
