I know if raises had stayed the way they were when I started (Jan 2000, 2 raises/year), I'dve topped out ages ago. When you were told that, I imagine it was the same. Problem is, they change the way the raises are given every year. You can almost bet next year will be different.

BTW......I am 3 cents below the 50% line.

Well actually they were saying 7 to 8 years but the plan they had in place wouldn't top you out in 7 to 8 years. Just like the sr mgr who said they're looking to top out couriers in 8 to 10 years they arrogantly believe we can't calculate anything ourselves and are slow enough to believe anything they say. I'm curious as to how many times you've been a swing? I'd be over the 50% line if I had never faithfully fulfilled my commitment to serve 18 months as a swing, posting good numbers and bending over backwards to make my mgr happy. For all that I get hammered on pay and am consigned to work 15 years before qualifying for 5%. And yet you try to defend them.

Let's assume that FedEx will raise the topout rate by 3% a year to keep pace with inflation. Ahem... Then assume (wait for it), that a FedEx employee will receive a 5% pay raise each and every year till they hit top out. Assume current Market Level A starting wage of $15.53 and top out of $23.59 as of March. It will take them just over 21 years to hit top out. If that employee hired in today, they'd top out in 2033 at a wage of about $45 Yes, $45...The effects of inflation over the next 21-22 years will make a current wage of $23.59 equivalent to $45 in 2033. This is all assuming that there will be full-time Couriers in the not so distant future...So there you have it, a 22 year top out time. Oh wait, that assumes that you'll be receiving a 5% wage increase each and every year. Look at the past 7 years and the average wage increase over that time has been about 4%. How long to top out with 4% wage increases and the top being raised 3% to account for inflation? So..If you make the assumption that the top "only" get an average 2.5% over time bump - which has been the average over the past few years....You hit top out in year 29...If you work for Express and have less than 10 years with the company...YOU WILL NEVER SEE TOP OUT - NOT EVER!

You might want to allow for the very real possibility of deflation. And I pretty certain I didn't average 4% over the last 7 years. While the current plan stinks, the choice between it and what we've been getting lately makes it at least a plan with results. I'm not worried about them doing better than this because I know it's not going to happen. I'm concerned about them sticking with it instead of pulling the rug out yet again. Sucks for newer couriers, but for me if I can get some 5 and 6% raises I'd finally be up to enough to sock away some money. I want them to know that if they back out of this I will make it my life's work to let as many people know as possible that FedEx is a bad deal and should only be considered for employment if nothing else is available. I don't see much point in trying to scare people already working for FedEx into quitting because where are they going to go. But if the B.S. continues, and most likely it will, I'd be remiss to not warn others. We deserve better than what we have gotten, and are getting. If it continues, FedEx needs to face consequences for messing with the lives of so many people who've given so much and got little in return.

Deflation will never happen. The national debt is too large and they are printing money to keep the economy afloat. Check out "quantative easing" and get back to me on the possibility of deflation. The only thing keeping US inflation in relative check right now is the European meltdown (investors are fleeing to the dollar). Once they finally kick Greece out of the Euro, Italy and Spain get their house in order, then US inflation will kick into high gear as the dollar is sold off for Euros.

Last year you were breathing fire about "if FedEx doesn't give us a decent pay raise, I'll............."

Well guess what, they didn't give you a decent pay raise. What are you doing about it?

So you're going to let people know that FedEx is a rotten outfit to work for.

Fred is shaking in his boots.

So how you go about getting what "you deserve".

You organize.

That is how you let Fred know that FedEx is a bum deal.

Idle threats never cause Fred any loss of sleep. The possibility of 15,000 signed union representation cards gives Fred nightmares.

We've certainly seen how well your fuzzy math campaign has worked. We have over 600 stations in the U.S., good luck with the organizing. I'll stick to the David-vs-Goliath idea. Well placed posts in forums across the Internet. As for me, due to who I've been working for, I'll just have to keep working until I don't have to. At least I have a plan. And I know how much you want Europe to work, but it's much more likely at this point that the E.U. will completely dissolve.

It is...policy 2-5-6-3.r "when employee asks about top-of-range pay, state, in no uncertain terms in a manner that does not allow for further discussion, that FedEx's policy is as stated 'Why would you want to reach top-of-range _______ (enter EE#), then you have nothing left to shoot for, sign here, this is considered an OLCC and will go in your P E R M A N E N T R E C O R D!!! (cue omninous music and escort out of office)"

Just sayin"....

My first 5 years I was handed worthless BZ bucks (never cashed them in). The last 7 years I was handed OLCC's for the same things I had earned (HIGH praises) for. LOL. I would be willing to guess their PERMANENT RECORD is not all that correct either.

I remember those BZ bucks..the scratch off ones! When I was at the ramp, the Sr. Mgr. screwed up and started handing out of a stack that was supposed to be mixed in..they were all $100..lol I had so many, that the Sr.'s secretary couldn't keep things in our "company store". I have some pretty dandy target material to this day!
