There are those who wholly believe in Global Warming and it's cause being man made. There are others who completely disgard any notion of global warming at all. To me, there has been documented a rise in average temps and yes they are slight but that's just the nature of it. And this is not a new phenomenon either, it's happened before. Doesn't disprove because the increments are small or it's happened before. However, it doesn't prove the worse IMO either but it's not something we should just blindly ignore.

The beef is what is the exact cause and IMO I'm not convinced to pinpoint any exact cause as the culprit. I mean, melting ice in Iceland? Could it be temp. rise causing this as a result of CO2? Maybe but we now have to consider the recent find that volcanic magma flows have been discovered close to the surface under part of the Icelandic glacier and this could be causing some melting.

Now this doesn't greenlight our abuse of nature but it does make one cause to think that going back to living in caves is not necessarily needed either at this moment. There are those and some evidence to support IMO that there is some solar activity that could be factoring into this. But here's what really bothers me and where the so-called conservative movement gives itself a black eye even under the guise of entertainment.

You mentioned Rush and earlier this week going to work I was listening to my normal jazz radio when I decided to flip to AM to see what was on. Well I happen to hear Rush as he went off on Richard Branson who used one of his jets to test biofuel to see what results they might discover. Now I don't know all the specifics of the test, I just know of the fact that it was tested and to be honest it seems like a good idea and I applaud the effort. If we can fly jets on nothing but air I'm all for it even though the laws of physics say with that much mass it's impossible! Now Rush may have a point about coconut oil (I'm no coconut oil expert)and I'll be the first to agree about the draconian use of gov't by a variety of special interests on both sides but here's my beef. It's Richard Branson's airplane, it's his money, it's his arse on the line so where's the beef? Is it not possible that Sir Richard has developed a process where coconut oil won't solidify and in fact can work as a alternative fuel? What wrong with trying something outside the box? That said, I would see any effort that can potentially lead us to use less of an oil product that benefits those cultures and instead maybe benefit other cultures not as violent prone (maybe they could teach us something for a change ) and at the same time be a positive environmentally speaking. Talk about win/win. [QUOTE="wkmac, post: 308752, member: 2189"] Couple of guys I work with are into softball and they had a mag. of equipment and is that bat one of those $300 dollar jobs? :money: I had no idea some of that stuff cost so much! What happened to the $20 Louisville slugger? Made me feel better when they slammed me 4 years ago for buying my daughter a $2k plus Gibson Les Paul guitar because for one that Les Paul has gone up in value and she's making money with it now! $$$$$$ My 401k! :happy-very: OK, back to the topic of the thread.
