Strike authorization is a bargaining chip to win a better contract in the face of a company bargaining in bad faith. Only stupid companies see the strike authorization and say "bring it on". Only stupid unions get most of what they want after authorizing a strike and go on strike anyway.Did the job actions take place? The pilots backed down from their threats of job actions. Both sides gave and took. Win Win
