UPS should reconsider Saturday ground delivery.

We have late air every day. Their solution is get rid of the comit times instead of getting the air on time. You just can’t make this stuff up.
I am curious why there is so much late air. 15 years ago it was fairly rare.....meet points now and then.

I'm sure there are reasons too numerous and complicated to go into here. Mainly, the air-traffic system. Of which every delivery company is bound by.

For example: Amazon and Fed Ex use a cargo feeder airport right next to a hub. UPS does not. Their departures leave all night long. Big Airbus/Boeing cargo planes....one after another. From a much less congested airport than we use. BTW, this(UPS) hub was built well after the airport. Amazon just built theirs right on the airfield....ours? Nope.

Yes. I was at the General Membership meeting prior to the start of negotiations. Our Executive board informed everyone there of this and the asked for a show of hands who wanted to work the weekends.

Not one person raised their hands, I would estimate the meeting was probably 85% Package Car Drivers.

Our Executive Board then promised that they were 100% committed to seeing that Full-Time Teamsters delivered the weekend packages. They were not interested in creating part-time weekend delivery jobs.

But they also recognized that current Full-Time package car drivers were clearly not interested in working weekends.

The primary issues for the drivers were excess overtime and harassment.

I informed all my guys about what transpired at the meeting. They were generally supportive of their plan.

IMO That is how the 22.4 jobs came about and that is why we felt the 22.4 was a win and not a concession.

IMO A concession would have been part-time weekend delivery jobs delivering the weekend work.

Sorry for writing a book.

I guess you guys were wrong...admit it...👍

What’s the issue with 22.4? Somebody aware me because I’ve heard complaints about it.

They are basically second class package car drivers, paid less and no bidding rights add that lovely 4 year progression...no COLA or wage increases till after the progression..

Most of these 22.4’s are hired off the street so they start at 20.50 about half what a RPCD makes.

The general drift that we were getting from the previous administration was they were going to work half inside and then go on the road.. the Company found a loophole and started to hammer these new guys with extra road work...most of them never worked inside, strictly driving...

We got lied to..and voted the last contract down, ratified by the good old boys because they knew best...👹

Rpcds don't recieve wage increases until after progression either and their progression starts at 21. So its not that much different in that regard.
