To add further to TOS's points on Bill Ayers, in April 2008, Bill Kauffman (Reason/The American Conservative) interviewed Carl Olgesby, former SDS President for Reason Magazine on SDS as well as The Weathermen. Ironically, not once did Carl ever mention the name Bill Ayers at all. For Bill to be such the bad guy, you'd think Carl would mention that would he not? What I also find interesting is that across some of the radical left netsphere, there is a discussion that Ayers was not any true believer but in fact was a provocatuer under the cointelpro program. I find that even more interesting in that of late more and more claims are that Obama was CIA. These are interesting allegations at best and that along with $5 will get you coffee at Starbucks. Also Carl alludes to thinking the SDS was compromised by gov't agents but his was a feeling as it just made sense. Was the omission of the name of Ayers saying much more towards this subject? Who knows but at the very least, Carl's failure to mention Ayers was proof that Ayers was not important at all in the bigger scheme of things. I think Ayers at best is letting this run for it's PR value and instead of issues and principles the right feeds on it for it's own political value. Both sides in effect are profitting from a lie while once again the larger public is denied the truth. Numerous good points TOS.
