work smart not hard

I guy on preload, whose been there there for like 12 years I think, told a new hire today that “working as hard as you can is one of the biggest mistakes you can can make here.” What do you think he meant by this?

It seems as though everyone who comes on here has the hardest pull, delivers the most packages, or is the hardest worker at their building. This is a thread for the people who skate by doing the absolute bare minimum while still pulling down bank
