It's easy just to take someone for their word. My personal experience is that I wasn't given a job at UPS because I knew someone, I got that on my own. I had some disciplinary troubles along the way. My union protected me without question. I never asked for help, I didn't need to beg. The were there when i needed. My union never failed me. I was asked by them to become a steward years ago. Since then I've gotten to know our Membership Slate on a closer level and they truly have our best interests at heart. I trust them with all my money. I had 3 BA's in my career, all have been tremendous. My healthcare has only improved since I've been here thanks to my current E board. Even after the past years when every pension took a hit, ours is currently bouncing back fast. I hear complaints about they make too much money and stuff, well they are on call 24/7. My BA has gone in at 6am, went to 5 other barns and then back to UPS at midnight for someone on the hook getting fired. Our E board travels on weekends away from their families and homes to help us members have a better life. If you break down their pay, it's like 18 bucks an hour. Mind you, I make 33 an hour and I get to go home every night, weekends off and 6 weeks vacation. My BA, VP, President and Secretary Treasurer are amazing. Also, our Recording Secretary is also a UPS steward, you wanna talk future of local 251? That guy is smart as hell and has some serious balls to get the job done. I'm sure he will move beyond his current position and rightfully so.

You have to understand that some people think the union is there to do everything for them. It's not. [QUOTE="stink219, post: 1193779, member: 29852"] I'm not a TDU fan at all. It's editorial extremism with underlying facet of propaganda. Most TDU locals have had major disciplinary issues after taking office. As far as the election, people need to educate themselves and get involved. It's not. Think of the union as a tool for a specific job. You can't build a house with only a hammer. So a union job is like having a tool bag.
