Endless wars pricetag since 911. I vaguely remember a budget surplus 20 years ago. In retrospect a much tougher immigration policy worldwide might have been more effective.

Once you add in the whole people want to kill us and America maintaining global dominance, the benefit cost doesn’t really become debatable

All George W. Had to do was enact a strict immigration reform policy in the wake of 9/11 & it would have been celebrated, bipartisan agreement, media fully endorsed, etc. Instead we got TSA, NSA, and The Patriot Act.
