When will you learn, it is not Empployees against the company. It is the company looking out for its Employees. I am also an employee of the company you all speak of. I may not be represented by the Teamsters, but I am still an Employee. I may not have 30 years in, more like 10, but I am still concerned about the future of the Employees of the company because I am one. I am concerned about the future of the company because when I retire, I want the company to continue to be prosperous. We all benefit from a strong company in the future. If you do not believe that, then ask the 10s of thousands of retirees from companies who are no longer in business due to various reasons. They all will say the same thing. "Thank God for UPS supporting their pension." I have read the last two proposals for the last two contracts, in each of them the "company" was trying to buy out the pension plans for UPSers, and establish a Teamster/UPS pension plan. Contribited by UPS for the benefit of UPSers. Each time the Teamsters faught against it because they knew that if it were established, then they would be held accountable for mismanagement of the current pension plan. The "company" also offered a huge amount of money to buy out of the current plan, but the Teamsters said NO. For those represented by the Teamsters, the time is now. For those who say the "company" will not sign with another union, look how many unions are already at UPS. This is no secret. Of the following unions IAM, IPA, IBT. Whose pension is in the worst shape? Any guesses? Don't stand by and watch YOUR future go to retirees of another company who is no longer in business. If you are a die hard Teamster, then the time is now to stop complaining about your pension, and reap what you sow. Competition is not always a bad thing. Fedex found their niche in a market that everyone said would never take off, (remember their slogan from the 70's, "When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight," there are still people who use the phrase, "Fedex it"). Well now look who has capitalized on that one. Brought about by competition.
