I'd think that any domestic supplier of a particular item that's not already made primarily in the US likely wouldn't come even close to being able to replace the volume of the item that's not arriving from China.

Can you prove that? Other than a glut that happened when everything got locked down and Saudi Arabia had a spat with Russia can you prove that oil companies were reducing production before the pandemic?
That's just it, essential items like pharmaceuticals are being almost entirely produced in China leaving us very vulnerable.

Gasoline usages is still below 2019 levels. But, gasoline refinement, nothing to do with oil production or oil transposition, is dramatically below 2019 levels. That's why prices are up. Refinement is way down. The world is a awash in oil. There is no shortage of oil or natural gas. Just a shortage of refinement due to storms, accidents, and Covid-19.

Again, the pandemic took drivers off the streets leading to a glut. Then the Saudis got into a dispute with Russia resulting in them pumping out more oil and driving oil futures into unheard of negative prices. Biden came along in '21 and stopped oil production on Federal land. Now the tank farms in Cushing, OK are super low on oil and we may be looking at super high prices in the near future. We may be longing for the days of $5 a gallon gas. Which party do you think will suffer at the polls in '22? The party that's trying to save the Earth from climate change or the party that's inflicting serious economic pain on average Americans?
