Most of our problems in the 21st century come from Reagan supporting the Taliban in Afghanistan in their fight against the Soviet Union. Even invited them to the White House calling them freedom fighters and comparing them to our founding fathers and our war for Independence..

I don’t know why it is controversial that Hitler was the lesser of two evils between him and Stalin. Stalin was just the evil that sided with the Allies in the war. USSR was leaps and bounds worse than the Nazis when it came to genocide. Communism has killed far more people and Stalin’s government alone killed more people that all the “fascist” governments of Europe through starvation and other means.
The only major reason Stalin is so over looked compared to the condemnation of Hitler is because the left sort of agreed with Stalin’s ideology. The New York Times etc, covering the genocide of the Ukrainians. Stalin’s ideology is so much more dangerous because of this, it is acceptable to be a communist. No one looks at RickyB and thinks wow that guy is advocating for tyrannical government with the power to purge entire populations it disagrees with, they just see an idiot.
And you can say yeah but what about the evil slaughtering of the Jews, targeted killing of an ethnic minority. That doesn’t faze the left at all when they support Islamic commie groups like the PLO, who target Jews all the time.
So when someone brings up Reagan using the taliban to fight the commies, I say that’s not far enough. I’d support basically anyone over communists, up to and including hitler’s rampage into Russia. This isn’t condoning Hitler’s entire fascist agenda, this is condoning his war on commies. In my eyes he was the lesser of the two evils, fascism vs communism. Still evil.

Just a note for the right leaning from my left leaning self and on behalf of my left leaning family and friends as we near voting day:
You're being told that we want to defund or disband police departments (and that we hate the police). We don’t, that’s a lie. We want to weed out racism and unnecessary police brutality and for those who abuse their power to be held accountable.
You're being told that we want to release all prisoners. We don’t, that’s a lie. We want to weed out racism and ensure the punishments match the crimes and to deprivatize prisons.
You're being told that we want open borders. We don’t, that’s a lie. We want asylum seekers to be given their chance to seek asylum. We want to help people who are coming from unimaginable terror and poverty and give them the chances we have. We want to ensure children aren’t separated from their parents and that nobody is kept in cages. But we do want proper vetting.
You're being told that we want to take away your guns. We don’t, that’s a lie. We want logical gun control to help prevent mass shootings.
You're being told that we want to wage a war on Christianity and Christian values. We don’t, that’s a lie. We want people of all religions or no religion to be able to practice and worship (or not) freely.
You're being told that we want to get everything for free. We don’t, that’s a lie. We want to work hard and make sure that healthcare and education are available and affordable for all.
You're being told that we want a war against traditional marriage. We don’t, that’s a lie. We want people of all sexual orientations to be able to live and love freely, no matter who you love.
You're being told that we want to destroy or rewrite history. We don’t, that’s a lie. We want to recognize the ugly parts of our past and do everything we can to say “that’s not okay, let’s not honor those aggressors, let’s not let those things happen again.”
You're being told that we want to take away your constitutional rights. We don’t, that’s a lie. We choose to believe science and we wear masks to prevent the spread of this disease.
You're being told that we hate America. We don’t, that’s a lie. We recognize our faults and want us to do better, be better. Wanting better for your country and everyone in it is the strongest form of patriotism.
