If by some magical occurance she can compete in individual events, she let the team down and is a quitter
Period.
In this amazing time we live in a person can gain great acclaim by simply claiming they are doing something for the better good.

Doubtful her "problems" could be cured in a short time period to compete as an individual.

Like I said, I don't follow it, don't even give a .
I'd ask my teammates permission before I shafted their chances however.
