Although I have never had substance abuse issues, I have had more than my fair share of interactions with those who do. Every perpetually troubled person I have known have one thing in common. The best way I can describe it is that they are 'very resistant to certain kinds of information.'                                           As a society, we are dealing with the effects of mass closures of mental health facilities beginning in the 80's. It seems that everybody knows somebody who has substance abuse issues, or are otherwise very often not in their right mind.</blockquote>
