Congratulations, Mr. President

Republicans believe that the existing election rules benefit their party and since the GOP has lost the popular vote in six of the last seven presidential elections they are correct.

So what do you think happens if the Electoral College is abolished and the red states know they can never again win national representation?

  • It is no longer relevant.
  • The Constitution has been amended before; it can be done again.
  • It gives too much attention and power to swing states.
  • It allows the presidential election to be decided by a handful of states.
  • It can ignore the will of the people.
  • The candidate who wins the most votes does not necessarily win the election, as happened in 1876, 1888, 2000 and 2016 and possibly in 1824 and 1960.
And 2020!

You can't seem to grasp that the most votes only applies within a state. There is no national popular vote. To say millions of California voters are being disenfranchised isn't so. California has by far the most electoral votes so it has a huge influence on the electoral college. And that's a reliable vote for Democrats. Republican candidates have to overcome the combined votes of California, New York, and Illinois every election. And Texas is trending blue. When that happens I doubt you'll be hearing Democrats complain about the electoral college as it will be unlikely a Republican can win the presidency. The problem is Democrats were used to being in power in Congress for 40 years. Now they have to campaign hard for it with no guarantees they'll keep it. That's unacceptable to them. Either they get the power and keep it from here on or they want to change the rules to make that happen. How very DEMOCRATIC of you!

California gets more Representatives and electoral votes which is offset by only 2 Senators and the millions of excess votes in CA don't matter in Presidential elections. As it was planned.

The existing election rules absolUTEY benefit the Republicans. Because Republicans dont cram the country full of illegals in certain areas to cheat the elections.

Though if forced to I could see them flying in people from Norway, Poland, Iceland, Russia, etc to help us win elections. Is this how "progress" works in your mind?

With what, close to hundred million eligible voters not voting you can't say with certainty that you represent the majority view. With certainty you can say a majority of people motivated enough to go vote are Democrats.

Who cares how many millions of illegals get crammed into California? It only screws up their own state.

Well, to a degree, yes. But there are still tons of Conservatives in Cali that are getting the short end of the liberal stick because of it. Not to mention, they arent just staying in Cali. They spread out all across the US. Cali is just the front door for them

But they are counted in the census which determines how many representatives the state has. California would be losing influence if it didn't allow so many illegals in to replace citizens moving out. Exactly why Trump wanted only citizens to be counted on the census since only citizens can vote and it would give a true picture of a state's political clout as well as apportion Federal money more fairly to citizens.

It will be fine

Darn constitution getting in the way again.

Trump had wide open borders. You need proof see Covid19. Walls don’t work when you allow terrorists and viruses to be flown over wall. Trump flew in the terrorist who shot up Pensacola Naval Air Station.
