It's the same at Express. Even if an employee possessed a CDL-A, without the FedEx certification, they don't turn the key of a CTV.

At my Ground station, the managers need to be certified to drive the golf cart. You can never be too careful.

I wish I had taped one of our CTV drivers. She spent nearly half an hour one night moving an empty pup trailer into a dock, almost hit poles multiple times, decided to change directions thinking she would be better off coming from her blind side, then switched again and in the process nearly jackknifed her trailer.

Same driver who not once, but twice, "forgot" to drop the feet BEFORE pulling her tractor out from underneath the trailer...then didn't know how to use the crank

Sort of. I have a switcher certification from Fedex; so I can operate the yard tractors on company property, but I'd be violating the law if I drove it on the road as I do not have the required endorsements on my driver's license.
