Feb 18th....the begining of my dissappointment?

Marty Gaunt, team manager for Toyota powered Red Bull racing was recently quoted as saying '....the ultimate goal is to win races. If we win races that will sell Red Bull.'

Has anyone remotely associated with the UPS sponsored, Toyota powered, Dale Jarret driven, #44 car attempted to openly wish, hope, or even desire to think they can win a race this season?

Probably not.
Under the guise of "race car driver", DJ's job appears to be one of diplomacy and advertising. He's very photogenic in his flameproof suit emblazoned with the company logo.

Jimmie Johnson fan here - even prefer Lowe's over Home Depot or Menards. Jarrett should think about his retirement

The title on your post says it all. It will be another disappointing season for Waltrip/Jarret Toyota team. We've been here before many times at the beginning of the season lately and watch our hopes fade.

Be nice to something to cheer about since Hamllin's doing so well for our competitor.

Toyota will be strong this year for sure. They've dumped a ton of money into it and it has already shown in testing so far. Bill Davis Racing and Michael Waltrip Racing will be very good this year. Toyota will win a race this year. I think that Bill Davis Racing will probably be the best Toyota team because they've been a team for a long time. Red Bull Racing and Michael Waltrip Racing are new and are bitting off a bit more than they can chew with 2 and 3 cars per team I think. Dale Jarrett will have a better year than last year but he still may not win. He's 50 years old or so and you just don't drive with the same reckless abandonment that you do with you're 30.

Now my season will be dissapointing. I pull for John Andretti in the Busch series. His team just got merged with Braun Racing and they will probably not run him the full season. Plus they switched to Toyota also and had no cars built for him so what they do put together will probably stink. Oh well.

I really think that Elliot Sadler should be in the 88 car with UPS as his sponser, since he was already in the commercials last year with Jarrett.
In training last week for my job and the HR manager ask me what Dale's number is now, and I got it right. The Hr manager looked at the trainer and said promote her to part time sup.
I was thinking how about just a cover driver and ya got a deal!

GO Ward!

Not really I don't have any intrest watching car's going in a circle for 3-4 hr's. DJ winning does nothing for my paycheck!!! You wanna see real racing watch the NHRA this year and keep your eye on the UPS Top Fuel dragster!!!! Do the math 8000hp vs 450hp????

I've never been to see the top dragsters, but dying to go. Nascar doesn't do much for me, but looking at the stats on the top fuels... wow. Something I have to experience eventually.

From wikipedia:
These cars compete in a 1/4 mile (0.4 km) race and complete it in less than 4.5 seconds at upwards of 330 mph (530 km/h). A Top Fuel dragster accelerates from 0 to 100 mph (160 km/h) in less than 0.8 second, subjecting the driver to a force about 5.7 times his weight. This acceleration takes less than a tenth of the time needed by a production Porsche 911 Turbo to reach the same speed. A fuel dragster can exceed 280 mph (450 km/h) in just 660 feet (0.2 km). The full race distance is 1/4 of a mile, 1320 feet. For further information and standards for drag-racing, including safety requirements, see NHRA.

At top engine speed, the exhaust gases escaping from the open headers produce about 800 pounds-force (3.6 kilonewtons) of downforce. The massive foil over and behind the rear wheels produces much more downforce, peaking at around 12,000 lbf when the car reaches a speed of about 325 mph.

The noise produced by one of these machines can cause deafness in extreme cases. It is customary for the full application of power to cause everyone within a half mile to cover their ears. Many spectators wear both ear plugs and earmuff-style sound deadening devices to protect their hearing.
