Would you be willing to move and relocate away from all of the family
Everyone's situation is different. I'm not looking to live in Malaysia, just showing what it's like out there. I imagine most people wouldn't want to be far from family while others might see living in say Mexico no different than if they lived in New Jersey and their daughter's family was in California. Would actually be closer to them flying from Mexico. Economic reality often means families are scattered as they find jobs. And economic reality means a very difficult retirement financially for many Americans. They may not want to be a burden on their children moving in with them but have no choice. Living overseas gives economic independence back to them. When my parents are gone my choices boil down to struggling to stay in Florida near my sister who is great but extremely busy, go back to living with my wife and her angry daughter in Illinois, going camping fulltime in the Southwest, or living overseas. I'm going to do what gives me the most peace of mind. Get a dog for companionship.Would you be willing to move and relocate away from all of the family
I had a customer on my route she would go to Mexico from November to April.Everyone's situation is different. I'm not looking to live in Malaysia, just showing what it's like out there. I lived in a large furnished room in Oaxaca, Mexico for three months. Had a private entrance and bathroom. Included electric and great wifi for depending on currency fluctuations between $140 and $150 a month. Everything needed was either a short walk away or a cheap taxi away. Great weather and scenery and lots of foreigners walking around. Could certainly pay a lot more there for fancy apartments but I had everything I needed in a nice area. Even had access to an upstairs roof patio with a grill and hammock. Left because my dad was having knee replacement surgery. Would I go back? Some people aren't affected, others get over it, but I had the runs all the time. Not as bad as other areas of Mexico I visited, but was thankful I had my own bathroom. Didn't make it in time once while walking home. I had very limited issues in Argentina, same as in the States. But that's my stomach. Others do ok.I had a customer on my route she would go to Mexico from November to April.
She would have her house winterized and shut down.
She paid $600 a month for her housing in Mexico and included breakfast and lunch, she said that was cheaper than her utility bills during the winter
....until a rogue group of local folk kidnap you and want ransom.a lot of people who move to these Southeast Asia countries. Way cheaper and makes sense.

lol SO dramatic!New Zealand changed drastically, since the flood of people that decided to move there after watching the Lord of the Rings.
Total police state, now.
I figure @vantexan will get rolled or arrested camping around the southwest, but he does have one thing right. Maneuverability, mobility and flexibility are needed, because the world, economies, societies, and governments are changing too fast, and in drastic ways.
Most those countries are pretty safe though.....until a rogue group of local folk kidnap you and want ransom.
We Americans are rather easy to spot.

New Zealand has very strict immigration laws and the people who move there generally are very rich as they buy their way in.New Zealand changed drastically, since the flood of people that decided to move there after watching the Lord of the Rings.
