I just browsed through trying to find some info and saw this post. Glad it's not just here. I hope you get a good center OP.
When I went driving the Sup took me out day one. I essentially worked as a Drivers Helper. Second day we went out, and we had to shuttle packages all over before our route so we ended up not starting our route till 1130 or so. Supposed to split time, but he wanted to get back and out by 430 so essentially driver helper day 2. Just everything the nitpicked about he didn't do of course like check mirrors, flashers, no safety rules, didn't teach me anything. When I got in the seat, do this, that. Be safe, run, we gotta hurry. 3rd day was told i'd be on my own, because I did such a great job. Did it for a few weeks. Drove in a few times no routes. Went in 1.5 hrs early to make sure my loads were marked and sorted, on and on. God I was a schmuck. Essentially 3 days a week and Saturday so 10 hrs free per week. I literally drove the truck for 5 miles, and touched the DIAD 5 times during training. I was so pumped for this opportunity but just self dqed and went back to the hub. Still work there but have a nice second job that pays as much, plus no bs. Sorry, there is nothing I wanted to do more, but my God I feel for you guys. 18.75 was nice but in all honesty the wear and tear and the horrible supervisors, man I couldn't last. Loved my driver mentor, and a few other drivers did everything to help me, but I didn't want to give up second job, and be miserable, and that first year looked excruciating. I just browsed through trying to find some info and saw this post. Glad it's not just here. I hope you get a good center OP.
