Rush, Hannity and the rest preach what Limbaugh calls "exceptionalism", the "fact" that working exceptionally hard will have a positive outcome. In the case of Rush and Hannity, it's somewhat true, because both are self-made, have worked hard, and are quite well off, especially Limbaugh, But, hard work and exceptional effort do not always pay-off. Ask anyone who's had a catastophic illness, a business failure, or a host of other reasons. All of the Fox types, to a high degree, believe in individualism and exceptionalism and being self-made...all hallmarks of Conservatism. The problem is, there just isn't room in capitalism for everyone to be "exceptional". Limbaugh is essentially a one-man operation, but most businesses have to have other people carry the ball. Since this is a FedEx Forum, let's use Fred S as an example. Is he a poster boy for "exceptionalism"? Perhaps back in 1973, but not now. What's exceptional about making millions off the labor of an underpaid workforce? Yes, the original concept of Federal Express was exceptional, but Smith has become a tyrant and a miser along the way, and stays "exceptional" by screwing over his workforce at every opportunity. Whatever happened to ethics? Anyone who gets all of their information from a single source or multiple sources that say the same thing is a fool. I listen to both sides and extract my own brand of truth from what I can ferret out of all the garbage and partisanship. Most of the Conservatives I know only listen to Rush, Hannity and their copycats, and fill their minds with the ultra-biased mush they watch on Fox News. No wonder they don't have a clue.
