The TV remote still has access to the power button as well as the volume and channel controls while the DVD remote has access to the power and play/stop buttons. That's all you need.

One player I have plays both VHS and DVD....the others do the recordging , all DVD's only. I still have many VHS like all the parts of the Godfather (in case a weekend goes by that they don't show them)

I have to record all those programs I like and they come on late for me.
