Is there a God? if he created the heaven and earth did he also create the stars and planets 19 trillion miles away?
I'm not trying to start an argument, just curious about what you think.Personally I think I am God.But then again so are you.

DS, you are to funny. Do you put a lot of time and energy into coming up with new threads or do they just pop into your head? (not trying to be a smart :censored2:, I swear) I think it's great. Switch things up a bit.

And if there is a god, which one is it? So many choices...

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .

Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

— John Gillespie Magee, Jr

I don't know.... this thread made me think of this.

If there is a God, why does He/She allow such horrible things to happen? War, famine, disease, disasters, harming children etc. all come to kind as examples of things that a compassionate "God" would not allow or would choose to intervene in if such a being did exist.
And why is God in hiding? Like in the old John Denver movie, why doesn't he just show-up every once in awhile for a chat? Like Maslow, I believe that religion is just a mechanism invented by man to deny death.

God is not hiding,God is the truth.God is inside all of us and if you knew where to look you would find him there.God is the place in your mind where you have a choice to form opinions, but unfortunatley, most of us think we know better, and thats what causes war.As far as famine, disasters, and disease go,its just silly to think that death is unnatural,if we had 2000 year olds humping around there would be no room left for the new ones.
I tend to lean towards the Taoist way of thinking, but even though I know where to find the"God" in me,I find it hard to live the way . I don't think God is Catholic, prodestant, muslim,or anything for that matter.I think God is inherant in everyone, and in its simplicity, its often hard to sense it.There is only one real truth, and sometimes its convenient to ignore it and replace it with your opinion.

I shortened it a bit overnine:laughing:
Ok not to be outdone, how do you like these words...............------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dawn of light lying between a silence and sold sources,
Chased amid fusions of wonder, in moments hardly seen forgotten,
Coloured in pastures of chance dancing leaves cast spells of
challenge,
Amused but real in thought, we fled from the sea whole.
Dawn of thought transfered through moments of days underseaarching
earth
Revelaing corridors of time provoking memories, disjointed but with
purpose,
Craving penetrations offer links with the self instructors sharp
And tender love as we took to the air, a picture of distance.
Dawn of our power we amuse redescending as fast as misused
Expression, as only to teach love as to reveal passion chasing
Late into corners, and we danced from the ocean.
Dawn of love sent within us colours of awakening among the many
Want to follow, only tunes of a different age.
As the links span our endless caresses for the freedom of life
everlasting.

A lot of these things are all answered in biblical passage also. The who is God, where he is, why bad things happen. Obviously you have to have the faith involved in being a born again Christian for it to make sense.

There is only one real truth, and sometimes its convenient to ignore it and replace it with your opinion.[/
Just curious what the one real truth is and who gets to decide which ONE is right?

Everyone gets to choose, and there is only one real truth, and its simply the truth. The way things are before we read things into them, define them, judge them.

Wow, according to the test, I was almost an Orthodox Quaker !!

#1 was Eastern Orthodox and #2 was Roman Catholic (what I am)

Interesting.

Good thing it didn't turn out to be Quaker......I'd have to put out the cigarette and stay out of the casinos !!!

Well Im definitely not in the real world then... I came across as quaker first and christian/protestant second... is an interesting quiz though...

I went back a second time and answered everything totally opposite to see what happened... I turned up unitarian universalism first and secular humanism second

Just kidding about the real world, secular humanists tend to take a very naturalistic outlook and discount supernatural explanations. I think most people's perception of reality is subjective and ends up being whatever works for them. It's a rare person who can objectively evaluate his/her relationship with their immediate family, much less the rest of the big wide world.

I tried it too and its a bunch of crap
Why is that? I'm curious. I generally take a dim view of internet personality tests, but when I read more about my top 3, the results seem to make sense in light of the answers I gave.
