Geez, are you really this silly?? Do you not now how to verify something? I guess its my job to help you out at every turn. Ok, this is the actual TEXT from what george washington actually said: "A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies." Now compare that to whats on this statue.. The right wing operatives continue to put words into the mouths of all the founders and this statue is a classic example of changing what a founder once said. from snopes on this same photo.. FALSE: George Washington Wanted Citizens Armed Against the Government But someone like you is easily manipulated by photos like this one. You dont have the intelligence to verify anything. You photo says this: "A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government." This quote is partially accurate as the beginning section is taken from Washington's First Annual Message to Congress on the State of the Union. However, the quote is then manipulated into a differing context and the remaining text is inaccurate. Here is the actual text from Washington's speech: "A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies." Its clear what washington said has been changed to satisfy people like you. It doesnt say what you , or imply what you need to maintain your gun arguments. A WELL REGULATED MILITIA. A military phrasing, like the entire second amendment. This quote was from George Washingtons annual message to congress. Hope this helps you out, but I know you will reject it, because its the truth and you cant handle that. TOS.
