If the Center(s) in your building or hub utilize Saturday ground; Lack of volume due to what? Due to Monday's previous resi volume being delivered on Saturday. Who will the RPCD bump? Bump a 22.4? NOPE Not possible. Saturday ground equates to well over 1300 stops in our small center. This allows UPS to cut an additional 10-12 routes on Mondays in our center. Sunday ground and the manipulation of volume by UPS will drastically impact the # of routes built on Mondays. The Taylor, Hall, Hoffa "Teamsters" colluded with UPS to ensure that more routes can be cut on Mondays & Tuesdays. If the Hoffa, Hall, Taylor, Red Vested Slappies had fulfilled their duty of representation during contract negotiations; Every single RPCD would be guaranteed 40 hours. Every UPS RPCD; let alone union reps or former union reps, understand that stops and pieces delivered on Saturday and Sunday instead of Monday will result in the 90% of drivers # working the 1st day of the RPCD week (Monday) being much lower. The Union could not have been blindsided by this inevitability. The Hoffa, Hall, Taylor, etc. crew is not naïve. They are garbage. This is what is happening. A center in Clarksville consists of 60 RPCDs. That center usually builds 50 or so routes on Mondays prior to Saturday ground. With the implementation of Saturday ground; that center cuts an additional 10 routes and builds only 40 routes on Mondays. Hence only 36 RPCDs (90%) are guaranteed 40 hours per week. While 100% of the 22.4 drivers are guaranteed 40 hours per week. Sunday ground and the manipulation of volume by offering sizeable discounts to major shippers who agree to have the majority of their shipments delivered on Saturdays and Sundays will only exacerbate the route cutting. The Union is not only culpable for this situation; the union is responsible for it. Why; pray tell; wouldn't ALL Teamster leaders introduce language ensuring the company can not abuse and bastardize the language. Somehow NORCAL protected 100% of it RPCDs the right to 40 hours per week. NOT only guarantee 40 hours to the top seniority 90% of the RPCDs put to work on Mondays....but EVERY SINGLE RPCD the right to 40 hours. Guaranteeing the right to bump onto a Saturday or Sunday in order to reach 40 hours was a no brainer. It is unacceptable that the Red Vests and others did not secure this imperative language for ALL RPCDs. Sure some drivers don't want to work Saturdays or Sundays. Heck; we all have to do things we don't want to do...but we have to do them anyway. The vast majority of RPCDs desire 40 hours per week. If the only way RPCDs could reach 40 hours is by being ALLOWED to work Saturdays and/or Sundays; Those RPCDs should absolutely have that right. There is no reason the Union did not afford RPCDs that right. Now the only way any full time UPS driver (RPCD) can be guaranteed 40 hours is by bidding down to a 22.4 position. Useless pieces of trash Taylor, Hall, Hoffa made sure a 40 hour guarantee for RPCDs was not a contractual right. O'Brien was previously a red vester as well. O'Brien's tune has changed but only time will tell if O and Z walk the walk.
