I got out of three or four speeding tickets about 25-30 years ago while driving my '69 Corvette to work at the original Atlanta Hub. My dad was alive and knew somebody at the Fulton County Courthouse. A phone call and the ticket "disappeared". Not ethical, but my dad was a very good man who helped a lot of people. He had a lot of connections. I remember as a small child we were driving through a small town in South Georgia on the way to Florida for vacation in the mid 60s when they has the speed traps. When you came to a small town, they would put the speed limit signs in hard to see places so the local police could generate revenue. My dad gets a speeding ticket and calls his childhood Sunday School teacher. That man eventually got elected Governor of the state. A couple of days later, a State Patrol officer pulled up to the place my dad worked and apologized. The State Patrol went to the little town and took the ticket from the police department and handed it back to my dad. Its who you know sometimes.
