do you manage a Monday load, 180 stops, that's all PAL'd between 4000-4493? 300+ packages in a 500.

They tried to say it was a less-than-8-hour day. I was out from 8:45am-9:45pm, with a helper, with PVD's.

All I could figure was to sort the whole truck, pile the 4400's in my RDR/RDL, and have the 4000's on my 1000/5000 shelf, my 4100's on my 2000/6000 shelf, my 4200's on my 3000/7000 shelf, and my 4300's on my 4000/8000 shelf. That was literally the only way to keep it organized, and I didn't even manage that until about 4pm.

It was the most random bull:censored2: I've ever seen.

Someone drink a beer for me. I'd do it myself but I quit drinking about 3 months ago.... the temptations strong as :censored2: tonight, though.

Best way to manage that is to hand them the pile of * right back. Sounds like you did. Good job. Set the expectation that if you set me up to fail, I will fail.

Who cares how long it took you. You get paid by the minute. They know they screwed you.

Sorting it by matching the second HIN digit to the shelf is the only way. This happens sometimes when we have a backup dispatcher. How was it loaded?

Every shelf was "mixed." The first package would be a 40xx, the next would be a 44xx, then 41xx, 44xx, 42xx, 42xx, 40xx, etc. Got that shelf clear? Next one's the same story.

The whole truck was just a pile of 4000's with what seemed like no attempt to keep them organized whilst loading.

And tomorrow’s another day. I’m not sure there’s a driver out there who hasn’t worked past 9pm.

At least the flip side is your check will be nice.

I make zero attempt to organize. I will dig through that pile of boxes at every single stop.
I wish I could do this but I’m blocking streets all day. By the time I find the package I’d have six cars behind me and some entitled middle age woman nose to nose with me refusing to move. “YoU cAn’T pArK iN tHe sTrEeT!”

I haven't worked past 7 PM yet this peak.
Very true. Seems like most of the country is like this. Mostly because we have PVDs taking hours worth of work from each driver. Instead of finishing at 10pm and even rolling work. Most of our guys are back by 5 to 7pm. Some even earlier. They are really pushing no over 9.5 for any driver.

I can see that since probably 40% of my route is currently missing and I'm out with 175-200 right now.

It's a tough day when you can barely get the bulkhead door open and packages starting falling into the cab . Those are the days that you might have to go to the same stop 2 or 3 times in a day .

That’s nothing I got sent out once with 400 pieces all Pal’d 1000-1099. Suck it up. I was relatively new. They got me real good that day. And the kicker was, half were for one town, and the other half were for a town 40 minutes away.

Ahhh, that was my qualifying route. 180 stops on a light day, 378 on it's heaviest. It's always a fun day when you have to leave ~50 stops behind because they won't fit, only to come back to the building around noon to brick the truck out again and start all over.

Just get the boxes organized. Those pal numbers don't mean :poop:.

Yeah, I get that. I'm just on a split route in 5 different cities/towns and two counties. I don't know any of these streets, man, so I've been running it in almost perfect trace. I'm learning, though-- it helps having a helper that I can explain what kind of BS situation we're driving into when we turn down a "road" that's really a grass field with what look like two wagon wheel ruts going a mile and a half through it to a handful of mobile homes. Talking it out's like jogging the memory, you know?
