Good news to hear. Now tell you husband to follow every method every time no matter what. If he doesn't , you both will be in this situation. Don't sheet up stops unless you are absolutely at the stop. Don't RDR next days. Every call tag and follow up every time.

And tell him not to stress over their impossible production standards that change every day. Safety and service through all the methods is his new mantra.

Also he should read and become very familiar with his contract.

Well said.

The plan was to celebrate, but we got the call at 7pm when we were 7 hours from home (about 30 minutes from the panel) and he had to go to work this morning. So celebrations will have to wait for now.
Tell him to take the advice about following the methods but to be aware that by following the methods he will eventually have to do something that puts him back on their radar. Such as, but not limited to, sheeting a business as missed because they dispatched him with it at the end of the day.

So he'll need to be sure to cover his ass by communicating with his supervisors about any service failures. Preferably before he leaves the building and to at least report them (on the DIAD) as soon as they happen. They don't like surprises. The OMSs can't always be counted on to rely the info but at least there would be an electronic paper trail proving he did his part.

And he doesn't owe them anything. Just needs to follow as many methods as he can remember.

I figured this would be the outcome. But, figures UPS would wait till you are just about there. As in this whole thread. Follow the methods. Work as directed. He is not qualified to make decisions. Lesson learned

For the rest of his UPS career; if your husband needs to report anything he could possibly lose his job over or receive any discipline; there are ways to protect himself.

Send a Diad message and/or call as directed by management. More importantly; Punch out and send a text from his personal cell phone to a supervisor or managers cell phone stating what the problem or issue is.

Then there will be tangible solid proof of notification of management. UPS destroys DIAD messages when it suits them. UPS has lied in the past and stated the the records..NO LONGER EXIST. A phone call does not give proof of what actually was said. I would not recommend taking a picture of the DIAD message because the use of recording devices and cameras are prohibited by UPS policy.

If management directs him to do something against the prescribed methods and procedures; send a text to management and a steward or local union rep describing what he was directed to do. Management has directed drivers to sheet misloaded businesses as CLOSED instead of Missed. Drivers are 10 miles away from the stop and directed to sheet it as closed. Who knows, maybe someone stayed late at that business waiting for the package. The customer tracks it.. and finds out the driver stated they were closed even though the customer was indeed there and waiting for the parcel. UPS management will disavow any knowledge of directing the driver to falsify records. The driver will be discharged for dishonesty.

The only way to truly preserve any record of communication with UPS mgmt. is a text from his personal phone.

Do the job using prescribed methods and procedures. Do not for a second think UPS management will do the same.

Congrats. So glad to hear it.

Like others have said, always put it on management. One thing UPS unfortunately doesn't like is drivers making decisions on their own. Always put it on them.

Hope he realizes now that even though it is a difficult job, it's a Privilege to have a good job, not a right.

Take care of those twins. ‍‍‍

I would get in touch with the BA and find out if he is on a last chance as part of his return.
If so, one little mistake, and he is gone for good!
Is that how last chance works?

There's no such thing as a "last chance", everything is grievable. Unjust or unwarranted discipline doesn't suddenly become ungrievable just because the company says it was the employees last chance. It's language designed to impress upon the employee that he caught a break and he needs to straighten out.
