Message: <blockquote data-quote="vantexan" data-source="post: 5695827" data-attributes="member: 24302"><p>I agree with you to a certain extent but there are tens of millions of people who aren't educated and have limited options in the areas they live in.  My view when I was young was to move away from such an area, join the military, get on with a company that pays.  In the end I know people who stayed on in my home town, built a life, had kids, were never prosperous financially, but were happy.  They didn't need to try to do more, were content with what they had, and had a good life anyways.  I on the other hand put my eggs in the FedEx basket instead of staying in the Air Force, and bounced around without much to show for it.  What I can say is those friends who don't have a lot beyond a basic house that's paid for are facing retirement with just Social Security.  And it won't get any easier for them.</p></blockquote><p></p>
