If the Alternative Minimum Tax is so Bad.......?

I know what we should do. Eliminate all taxes, fire all government employees(all levels), ignore the disintegrating infrastructures (roads & bridges) and return to the horse & buggy days. Life would be much simpler and we could ignore the millions of people starving to death, maybe even our own families. Yea, that's the ticket.

How does your straw man explain the fact that the GOP waxes long about the AMT and yet when the chairs of power aligned in their favor they did nothing to solve that problem?

When you consider the history of the AMT, not that I expect a thing from democrats but it's obvious the GOP is not playing with clean hands nor IMO are they being honest with the voting public either.

It is a very stange tax to me.

From what I understand about it, it was created in 1969.

The AMT was designed to prevent the very wealthy from dodging taxes through shelters and deductions.

All this time, it has never indexed to inflation.

So people who make $75,000 and above can be hit by this "very rich tax" created to catch very rich tax payers
33 years ago, and never changed.
