Medicaid is free stuff no matter what. Plenty of lazy white folk too, scamming the system.
It's not always scamming, sometimes it's just not being an idiot. If you're right on the verge of being offered insurance vs qualifying for Medicaid, it makes more sense to work less. The costs of having most private health insurance bumps down your actual net pay so much, you'll make more and get better care by working less. Same thing happens with other "welfare" programs. We have a really dumb system. Worst of both worlds.

Once on, it becomes your life. You become dependent.

Still though, lots of scammers, like food stamp cards being used in Disney, sold for drug money, cash, etc.

Yeah, I've had to ring up a couple surf & turfs on an EBT card in my previous job. Everyone needs a treat every once in awhile, but you only get so much money on there and it seems like a waste.

I've been on Medicaid and other programs before and I'm here at UPS now, so I'm not sure about the dependence. Being poor totally sucks, even if you have govt programs that just barely keep you off the street or worse. I will say that I still prefer Medicaid to every other health insurance I've ever been on, even to our Cadillac UPS plan. But I'm healthy and have simple medical needs, and I know if that weren't the case, I'd feel pretty differently.

The longer you stay with UPS, the sooner you will be using those medical benefits.

Just to point out you counted medicare into "free stuff".
What does school vouchers have to do with health insurance and racial health care disparities? No, meidcaid is not "free stuff", if you have ever worked, then you paid into medicaid. So why can't you use medicaid when you pay into it by working?
The folk getting Medicaid are getting free stuff. Someone else is paying.

No, people who work pay into Medicaid, Medicaid has payments. People who get Medicare don’t only use the amount of Medicare they have paid in their lifetime. They get far more out of Medicare then they paid into Medicare. This is a fact. You want this delineated oh Medicare is good because you pay into it and use it in old age when you are retired, and Medicaid is bad because it’s free stuff, but that delineation is fiction. Working people pay into Medicaid. Most people who get Medicaid are in household with at least one working adult, or they are children or they are the elderly in nursing homes that’s what a huge percentage of Medicaid goes to.

Googled it. Medicare is paid for by payroll taxes. Medicaid is strictly a government funded program. For every dollar a state pays for Medicaid the Federal government matches it. So it varies state by state as to the funding.
