It was designed purely to create an access road to low cost trucking and labor and to divest itself of as much risk, liability and variable costs as it can divest itself of and in doing so create better margins . As  one of the two guys who created RPS said when he retired to an island off the North Carolina coast with millions in his pocket said......."Fedex Ground is the most profitable company in the transportation business with trucking as it's core".
