new jump seats

Has anyone heard of a new jump seat that ups wants installed in some trucks? My mechanic said they would installing a new type of jump seat in my truck even though i already have 1.

Probably a better seat for the year round helpers or maybe we are gonna to 10 day rides instead of 3 and on car sups were getting tired of the drivers somehow hitting every pot hole on that side.

Does it throw the Helper out about ten feet so we can run more stops per hour?

Actually, the new seats have no "seat" part. It is just a padded back with a lap-belt. Your helper will no longer lose time getting up. He is belted in against the bulkhead wall while still standing. IE says this will save us millions.

the mechanic could not really explain it. he had not installed 1 yet and really does not want to waste 2 hours on it.

nothing new really, it just flips out another portion so there is room for your On-car and a IE guy to ride with you.

I heard it is gonna have a porta potti attached for all of the crap you get from the on car sup

Heard that its not replacing the 1 we have but being added to the bulk head door so 2 people can ride with us.

The new one I saw had a bungee cord attached to the helper so he could get back to the truck faster.

I have heard about this. It is a reinforced with 3 quarter inch steel and has hydraulic shocks for all of the fat ing supervisors that we have now.

seen instructions for the jumpseat the back is mounted on the bulk head door and the seat itself is mounted to the middle of the floor right next to the driver and the regular jump seat. looks like any driver who gets one of these will be jumping over the seat and not be able to open and close bulk head without adjusting seat. genuis, maybe the saftey comittee should look at this

That's exactly what it is. My buddy had one installed on his P1200 over a year ago. It's a seat that is installed on a sliding rail in the floor. The seat when not being used slides behind the drivers seat. When used, the seat is directly in front of the bulkhead door. I really don't see a reason for it other than for a driver to have 2 additional people riding with him. My buddy hasn't had anyone ride with him to use the seat and it's been over a year. I can see the driver struggling to get through the day when it's being used as you have to wait for the person in the seat to unbuckle and slide the seat back to it's original position before you can even open the bulkhead door.

we have one of these in a truck. kinda funny looking. 2 helpers?!?! also who has a year round helper?
