Don't forget having to change clipboards when you went into a different area. I remember telling rookies about having to know when you went into a different area....would get deer in the headlight look.

Don’t forget, we also had to unlock the bulkhead door with the actual key, which was a pain in the ass. They used to like to come and observe you and nail you for taking the key off the key ring and putting it in the bulkhead door lol

Never did that but there were other ways. Not that I would do that.

Yep, it was a personal challenge when one of those waffles Supervisor’s trying to move up the ladder tried to intimidate me.

Used to tell them I’ll be here longer than you you probably better find someone else to intimidate. Eventually, they move on to people they can.

I rarely used a key to open the bulkhead. I left it open doing residential. People loved one another back then.

Very true just 20 years ago it was only about 8.5 to 9 hours days. Anything past that was an anomaly.

In the 90s I averaged about 5-6 hrs a week OT. It went up as soon as the EDD system started and only continued to go up. Of course it varied by route but it’s definitely out of control now.

What world are you living in? Maybe if you had 20 years of seniority 20 years ago I can assure you. If I only worked nine hours a day that was an easy day. And almost 0 chance of having enough seniority of getting an eight hour day.

Perhaps it was that way where you are but a gross generalization of everywhere.

Quite frankly, I’m still one of the last people back to the building and I’m generally off before 7 PM. And that’s with some of these guys going out with 250 stops running their nuts off. They should be out longer, but they’re not and they’re complaining. Perhaps if they didn’t skip their lunch and load their trucks in the morning the company would take work off them? Instead, why would the company take work off them when they’re getting 12 hours of work done in 9 to 9 1/2 hours a day?

If you folded a delivery notice just right and placed it just right to keep the latch slightly raised, the bulkhead door would close and lock. But a swift yank it would open. No key needed.

Um I don't know if i agree with that statement. I mean there is a reason they put 9.5 language in the contract. Its because people were working well over 9.5 many days.

When I started the planned days were around 8.8 or so but later they were as close as they could get to 9.5. And they were allowed a couple of days a week to dispatch you over with no consequences.
