Roosevelt provided ships and supplies to England before we got in. And we got in after we were attacked by Japan. Which has it's parallel today in that we didn't invade Iraq and Afghanistan until after we were attacked on 9/11. We can argue about invading Iraq but fact is Hussein was in direct violation of, if I remember right, 17 U.N. sanctions. He was the major catalyst of our invasion as he numerous times pushed the narrative that he had weapons of mass destruction and was a major supporter of suicide bombers in Israel. But I digress. If you are implying we had no business getting involved in WWII you have been brainwashed. Whatever you think of America the fact remains that the evil that was being done by the Nazis and Imperial Japan had to be stopped. 100,000,000 died in that war, a million Americans among them. That generation understood sacrifice and honor, attributes that seem in short supply these days. The Nazis in particular demonstrated what modern technology in the wrong hands could do. We stood up to the Soviet Union for the same reason, and must overcome radical Islam before it too requires vast armies and resources to defeat it. The Michael Moore's of the world make a very good living getting naive kids to believe that America is the problem. Unfortunately this poison has infected our universities and our press. Go to France and look at the military cemeteries full of those who understood what was at stake and gave their lives defending it. Something that the namby pambies trying to tear down America just don't get.
