and download the Actuary's Letter on Plan Funding Status.

The Plan was 84.7% funded as of 1/1/2009.

Down from 97.1% funded on 1/1/2008.

[It may well have gone up since.]

For what it's worth, UPS is prohibited from suggesting they take over any Teamster Pension Fund by a Memorandum of Understanding located at the end of the Master Agreement. . .
Memorandum of Understanding
United Parcel Service, Inc. (Ohio and New York Corporation), as a demonstration of its commitment to maintaining jointly administered Teamster pension benefit plans, and to enhance the long term stability of pension coverage for its employees represented by Teamster Local Unions, agrees that for a period of ten (10) years from the effective date of the National Master Agreement [12/17/2007], it will not solicit any signatory Local Union to change pension plans, either by proposing such change during future negotiations of the National Master Agreement or by encouraging its employees to advocate withdrawal from participation in their current pension plan.

God I hope so! UPS can not afford to bailout another ineptly run Teamster's pension fund that has been funded for the most part by UPS to begin with. I hope all the other are in as good or even better shape. PLEASE!!!

How many other companies still have a pension plan still? If you do not like it at UPS then leave.

One small point of clarification ... UPS does not have a pension fund for drivers except for the Central States fund. UPS just funds the the Teamster's Pension Plan.

Hoax,

UPS did not bailout Central States.

UPS bailed out of Central States.

UPS paid up the $6.1 billion bill it owed, and left.
