That's a harmless prank played on the new guy. We are talking about a manager willfully misleading an employee for the managers benefit.

True. It is stealing from the employee plain and simple, a regular occurrence at FraudEx. Eventually, this will come back to bite Fred in the ass, but it will take time. I'll gladly cash my class-action check and add the stub to my collection.
