Property taxes

You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
We're in a reappraisal year. I filed an appeal but I doubt it will do much good. Valuation went up 54%. Over 5k a year now.
I'm gonna make a phone call. I can't figure out how we bought a foreclosure that's falling apart because of termite damage and the taxes went up 38% from last year.

We can file the appeal online here. They reappraise everyone every four years, they're gonna be busy. I talked to some neighbors and it seems like everybody got hit pretty hard.

The tif thing is really pissing me off. Best I understand it I'm paying extra taxes so some business can freeze theirs.

In the last 13 years I've appealed my property taxes twice. One time they lowered them by something like $27 and the second time they laughed at me. The year they lowered them a whopping $27 they made up for it the next year by raising them over $300. One year they actually went down a couple of hundred on their own-----I figured it had to be a mistake.

Mine is going to pay for a baseball stadium, thank you fiscal responsible republicans.

The ironic part is the Braves suck.

Tax increment financing (TIF) is a public financing method that is used as a subsidy for redevelopment, infrastructure, and other community-improvement projects in many countries, including the United States. Similar or related value capture strategies are used around the world.

We just got a check for $900 and change......something about a parking fee in the City of San Clemente. All we had to do was fill out some form.

When they add a tax like that it is usually supposed to be temporary but oddly enough becomes almost impossible to later get rid of.

Always great to get a gift like that. A few years ago we got an 800 dollar check from some lawyer out east with a letter stating it was part of an estate settlement from some person we had never heard of. We spent a week asking other relatives on both sides of the family if they had ever heard if the deceased--no one had. I also searched the internet for this guys history but we still couldn't make a connection. To this day we still don't know why we were included in the will. The check cashed with no problem.
