Someone is hooked on Subramaniam kool-aid…
I think he’s done truly awful job as CEO if the goal is continued growth of the company. I think we are in the squeeze every last bit of money from the brand while we destroy it phase though. In that regard he’s doing well. The brand will be trash when he’s done but likely still profitable.

Him and Carol should probably start a company together lol

It's not as bad as you'd think. The density that Amazon has in some rural areas is the kind of stuff that FedEx and UPS dream about.
This is probably true, but Amazon still pushes there delivery day at checkout because it’s a lot cheaper if they can talk the customer into having everything they’ve ordered for the last several days delivered on one day. Sometimes they give a digital credit or something like that if you do it.

Actually, it was Mr. Fedex that gave corporate the idea! I know, because I read it in the Babylon Bee!
My all-time favorite was when he learned the term "human capital." His big thing was learning a new word, phrase, or concept then posting here like he was an expert on it and using it to complain about FedEx.

Anyway, for his "human capital" story he said he bumped into a major player for a major social media company and was asked about human capital. His expertise so impressed the guy that he was invited to speak at a large meeting of the company and to host a Q&A afterwards. Dude was a legend!

The brand is only as good as its contractors.

lol. That “article” is just some Karen crying with no actual knowledge of what service levels are. It’s not like FedEx is sharing that info with anyone, everything is just rumor.

They aren't sharing that info because they know service is in the tank wherever they've moved Express services to Ground.🤣

Always great to see 2 guys who wouldn't know what the service levels are if their lives depended on it arguing with each other about what the service levels are.

I remember when you were gung-ho for this and telling us how it was such an easy way for you to make much more money. Express guys weren't worth the money, and so forth. That was only a couple of years ago.

Fast forward to now. In locations that have been merged for more than a year, why is there such an overall uptick in the number of routes being staffed by and percentage of packages being delivered by hourly FedEx employees? I'm with you when it comes to understanding that there are a lot of Express couriers who think that the work they do approaches magic, but there's a corresponding belief among Ground contractors that the goofs they hire off the street can handle time commitments without issue.

This isn't going away and it's playing out much like I suspected it would: they have mechanisms in place to offset contractors' inability to achieve Express service goals.

I believe contractor failures are a choice being made by corporate FedEx. Corporate is trying to go cheap. They aren’t paying contractors enough or structured in the right way to get top results. They are ok with failures.

In many stations they are paying a weekly bonus for service, well if it only takes a few failures to lose that bonus and you have that many by Wednesday why spend the extra money to make service the rest of the week? Without the bonus money they can’t afford the extra resources anyway.

If the money is there to be made, contractors will find a way to make it. If corporate wants to keep all the savings of the merger for themselves they’ll have more failures. I think they are fine with the failure. I think that’s the plan.

A few boxes needing to be delivered first is not a big deal. The routes are a quarter the geography of the Express routes. It’s going to be easy. The only people involved that believe the challenge is too much for Ground are the ones getting shown the door. Buh bye elitist Express couriers, you won’t be missed.

I understand that you guys have this belief that what you do is difficult and your skills are special. That’s just not reality.

More volume means I can support more routes. You guys really think if my volume increases 10-20% I wouldn’t add resources? I’d have to be wildly inefficient right now if that was possible. More volume means more trucks with the time commits split between even more drivers. Maybe that’s why you guys think this is so hard, you don’t understand how anything works.

For someone who thinks this is easy and understands how everything works, why are you having to make excuses for failure?

I don’t have Express volume yet. I’m not failing at all. I still think it won’t be that difficult for me to handle when the volume comes. I am better than the average contractor.

I can’t believe you took the time to scroll through my post history, you need a hobby.

Volume, and Service, are two separate issues.
Let us know how well you’re doing with service, now, and again when Express volume is dropped in your lap.
