Heard the news Thursday. Killed in a bicycle accident. The irony...
I was present for his first MotoGP win in 2005 at Laguna Seca. The event was also documented in this film:

Sad to see him go. Saw him last year again at Laguna competing in World Superbike. RIP Nicky. 1981-2017.

It's what my best friends and I called him back in the late 90's when we were into sport bikes.
