I just did my "first" Sprint Triathlon today. I finished in 1:27.13, which is about 12 minutes slower than I thought I would. I must confess that I'm a terrible swimmer and didn't really practice that much. Out of 38 first timers, I finished 12th, with a 35th of 38 swim, a 5th place bike and a 1st place run. Here are my times. MALE FIRST-TIMER 12...315...623 Stephen C...45 Port Saint Lucie...FL 1:27:13...35...17:32...5:29...5...39:35...2:02...1...22:37 My swim was horrible. I wanted to just quit. My muscles were all pumped and my heart rate was through the roof. I started feeling queasy, but I pushed on, walking out of the water under my own power. I wanted to, but didn't vomit. My head cleared up on the bike and I felt comfy on the run, though I didn't really push hard because I just wanted to see how I finished with trying to crush these. My transition times really killed me, lol, 5 1/2 minutes in transition 1 and 2 minutes in 2. I could have been in the lower 120's or in the upper teens if I tried harder today. I don't know if I'll ever do another one of these, but if I do, I'll make sure I am much more prepared for the swim and the transitions.
