Yeah our average 401k are above the avg/mean which makes you feel good but wow people are going to be short. Way short. We have pensions and still get paranoid.

There is big difference between getting by and being comfortable in retirement. That difference is putting a lot more away during your working years.

Full-time top scale UPS employees are high earners. I have a feeling we would be shocked to know Many are putting away very little on their own.

You don't need to max out your contributions but at least 5%. Probably closer to 10% is better.

We just got a nice raise this contract and people were still complaining they can't afford to put something in

True. Just talked to a young guy 34yo working for a trucking outfit in our same local. Talked to him about taking care of his body and using 401k early. Vet drivers talked to me.
