Did 705 honor the national strike in 1994 over the 150 lb weights? Did 705 honor the national strike in 1997? From reading your posts you are not even a teamster now are you? Why Did you vote against the teamsters? because it would cost you jobs, right? But yet you feel free to throw jabs at a local that has its members best interest at hand. If you read 705 proposals from the company you can see that it would cost them jobs. Your not happy with a local that will give you a bad contract and your not happy with a local that wants a fair contract. Let me ask all of you how many sick days do you get? 705 gets none. Do you get paid your birthday? 705 does not How many optional days? 705 gets 2 Now maybe some of you dont get this too, but some areas do. How can this happen if everyones under the same national? How did local 804 restore their 25 and out pension? By turning down ups's original offer holding up the national. Whats different with 705 and 710? Because they negotiate seperate? Thats not whats important right now, what is important that this gets resolved hopefully without a strike. I saw a post were someone said that 705 was highballing the pension by asking for $60 per week. Did the national not get $40 per week? Its not an outrageous highball, asking for $200 would be. 705 wants to address starting wages for ptimers, this i applaud them for it. What will minimum wage be in 2013? $8 an hour was good pay when minimum wage was at $3 an hour now ptimers will lose medical to. 705 fight for your members and realize that only a small percent of ups employees are on these type of chatrooms. You have alot of support from across the country from people that are sick of the ups arrogance. Raise that starting wage and protect what you have won or 97 was for nothing.
