While that may be true, Ray Stevens was born in Metro Atlanta and grew up pretty much a city boy.
I have talked to him when he is not in his stage "persona" and he is erudite and speaks without an accent (if you are from Atlanta anyway).

IRS Warns Congress About Failure to Address Alternate Tax

Failure by Congress to act on the alternative minimum tax by year’s end will lead to“significant”
delays in tax filing and a strain on taxpayers, said Steven Miller, the Internal Revenue Service’s
acting commissioner.

The alternative minimum tax, or AMT, is part of the so-called fiscal negotiations in Congress.
Leaving it untouched would affect taxpayers early in 2013, because its reach would be
expanded for returns filed for tax year 2012.

Without action by Congress, the parallel tax system would affect 32.4 million households for tax
year 2012, up from 4 million in 2010, according to the Congressional Research Service.

It would increase tax collections by $92 billion, shrinking or erasing many taxpayers’ expected refunds.

Let's see the other night bhos had some MSNBC hosts over to talk about taxes.
The rev sharpton was there , he is a fine expert for bhos to listen to.
Sharpton’s nonprofit vehicle, National Action Network (NAN), is seven months behind on its rent for downtown Washington building space it sublets from the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials, or COMTO. The overall debt now exceeds $28,000.
As National Legal and Policy Center reported in September 2010, the man has a pattern of stiffing creditors. An audit by the accounting firm KBL showed that the Harlem, N.Y.-based National Action Network owed nearly $1.35 million in combined back federal, state and city taxes and penalties at the close of 2008. In April 2009 the Federal Election Commission fined NAN $285,000 for campaign finance law violations committed during his run for president during 2003-04; the FEC in 2004 already had ordered Sharpton’s campaign to return $100,000 in federal matching funds and forgo nearly another $80,000 for which he presumably had qualified. NAN also shortchanged the Peabody Hotel in Memphis for about $70,000 on activities (not including Peabody management’s attorney’s fees and miscellaneous costs) related to its 2008 annual convention at the elegant venue. And the group also failed to make good on at least $50,000, and as much as $193,000, to a New York travel agency, Alpha International Travel, for hotel and airline reservations.
National Action Network for years has attracted generous corporate donations. Sponsors of the group’s 2012 convention (listed in the program) include: AT&T, Best Buy, Coca-Cola, Facebook, Fedex, Ford Motor Company, General Electric, Home Depot, Macy’s, McDonald’s, The News Corporation, PepsiCo, Verizon and Wal-Mart. With that kind of backing, how come NAN can’t pay its rent?
And where has the money been going?

Facts my butt! If you are talking income tax rates you are so very wrong! In 1980 the tax code had 16 tax brackets, top rate %70. In 1989, two tax brackets, 28, 14. The taxes Reagan did raise, cigarette tax and temporary raise in gas tax. The other so called tax increases were eliminating certain deductions. And Reagan indexed tax rates to inflation, to get rid of bracket creep.
