Nothing wrong with learning the good things about your country. And there's nothing wrong with learning the bad. That's my view. It's good to be widely read.

“Republicans have expressed opposition to critical race theory, which holds that the U.S. is inherently racist and that skin color is used to create and maintain social, economic, and political inequalities between whites and nonwhites, saying that the philosophy relegates all white people to the role of oppressors and all people of color to that of victims.”
Is this what you consider “learning about the bad”? No problem with it being taught in public schools? Do Republicans have it all wrong? Is this not actually what critical race theory is?

We need more critical thought, not less.
This is what I consider learning about the bad, yes. Learning things that challenge the learner. If academics believe it's valuable then I say let's allow them to carve out some time to expose students to these ideas.

Look dispassionately at the history of the Drug War and mandatory minimum sentencing, the Electoral College, the filibuster, housing policing (i.e. redlining). Some of these institutions persist and some linger only in recent history, but they've had an impact. This is what I understand CRT seeks to explain and explore.
