We helped France, Britain and others with low interest loans, grants and other economic assistance, including low tariffs on their goods. The were allowed to have high tariffs on us and we had low tariffs on them in order to help their industries. That’s a long time ago. They never lowered the tariffs and we never complained because it wasn’t really hurting us. But we haven’t had a trade surplus since 1975! We’ve lost jobs and industries to those countries and others. Enough is enough.</blockquote>
