Yes. My oldest daughter was offered this at her undergrad school after she had been accepted out of state for her Master's. She thought the out of state school had a better program, so she went there.

I will get political for a second. I do not believe college tuition should be free. That would lead to people enrolling and not taking it seriously.

But why do they charge students nearly 6% in interest on Federal Stafford loans??? I am getting less than 1% on my CDs.

We loaned her the money to pay off her student loans and are letting her pay us back interest free.

Free tuition does have strings attached, to include maintaining a minimum GPA, graduating on time and staying in state for at least the same number of years for which you received tuition assistance.

I am at top rate and my total withholdings average $350/week.

That is the one loan you can't default on.

It's almost impossible to get student loans forgiven. Even through bankruptcy.
