If we wanted an insurrection, there would be an insurrection.
What makes you think in insurrection needs to be planned? They believed the lie that Trump won. They view themselves as patriots with the full force of the US military (if not God himself) behind them.
I doubt that any of them even considered the term insurrection and that includes those who knew what the term meant. You really don’t have to know understand a law in order to break it.

Again, why would it have to be planned? Why would he be blameless? Could you hand loaded shotguns to ten twelve year olds and when something bad happened say, “I didn’t plan for that to happen! Wasn’t me!”?

You are talking about a figment of your own imagination. If that group wanted to take over the capitol, they would have.
They had the numbers and ability to hold it.
They did not do so, because they chose not to do so. Because it wasn't an insurrection. They had no intent of overthrowing the law or the lawmakers.
