UPS driver snaps viral photo of child in leaves, urges drivers to be alert and careful - WDRB

A picture of a child playing in the leaves close to a road has gone viral.

An Elkhart UPS driver saw the child while delivering packages on his route. The driver says he’s trying to raise awareness about a safety issue.

Driver Jordan Weaver was delivering packages in a neighborhood when he saw a young boy hiding in the leaves.

A leaf pile is fun for children, but can be dangerous when it’s close to the road.

“I couldn’t believe it at first -- my heart completely stopped,” said Weaver.

Glad to see a news story like this. UPS drivers tend to notice everything, and are probably the safest drivers down a given residential street on any given day regardless of speed. I always tried to explain that to the wanna be righteous crusaders who would call in customer complaints about drivers tearing down their roads when I was an ORS.

Never drive or park next to a pile of leaves big enough to harbor a small child.
